Candidates for Delegate to MTA Annual Meeting

Note: You will be able to vote for up to 16 candidates on March 22.

Candidates for MTA Annual Meeting Delegate are listed below in random order.

  • Kerri Floramo (Ferryway, Unit C, MEA Union Representative Council)
    • As an ESP, it is important to me to ensure that ESP voices are in the room at all levels of our union. I am asking for your vote to be a delegate so I can work to elevate ESP voices and voices of all workers in the MEA.
  • Jodi LaVita (ELC, Unit A, MEA Union Representative Council)
    • I feel that it is important to be a part of the process and to advocate for myself and my fellow union members by having a say in decisions that are being made on our behalf.
  • Christina Terranova (Salemwood, Unit A)
    • It is important to me to represent all members and, especially, Salemwood school members.
  • Colleen LeShane (Beebe, Unit A, MEA Recording Secretary)
    • As an Executive Board member who is fully invested in our Union, I have attended MTA’s Annual Meeting prior and would love the opportunity to represent the MEA once again, thank you!
  • Ross Bowdridge (Salemwood, Unit A, MEA Union Representative Council)
    • I would like to be considered as a delegate to the annual MTA meeting.  As a union rep for the past 5 years I have been quite active in our local union and feel that now is the time to branch out and become more active in our state union.
  • Douglas Dias (District-Wide, Unit B, MEA Union Representative Council)
    • As the Unit B representative, it is important that our unit is represented both in Malden, and at the MTA annual meeting.
  • Suzanne Millett (Forestdale, Unit A, MEA Membership Secretary)
    • As Membership Secretary of the MEA, I believe it is important to be a strong voice for our members at the MTA Annual Meeting. Please cast one of your votes for me, so I can advocate for all of our members and students.
  • Katie Carter (Linden, Unit A, MEA Corresponding Secretary)
    • I am asking for one of your votes to elect me as an Annual Meeting Delegate. Improving working/learning conditions, as well as preserving public education as a cornerstone of a just society are a priority to our union and a priority to me as an officer of the MEA.
  • Rachel LeBlanc (MHS, Unit A, MEA Treasurer)
    • I am the Treasurer of the Malden Education Association and would like to be as involved in both the MEA and the MTA as I can.
  • Lucas Friedlaender (Forestdale, Unit C, MEA Union Representative Council)
    • Every person should be entitled to a free, high quality, education. Powerful forces want high quality education reserved for the privileged. Public education cannot defend itself, it needs to be defended from the ground up.  Let’s make the MTA be the leading counter-force facing those assaulting public education.
  • Tim Stratford (Ferryway, Unit A, MEA Executive Board At-Large)
    • As a new member of the MEA Executive Team, I would like to further my involvement and knowledge of statewide and local (Malden) issues to assist my colleagues in understanding our rights, student advancement and fair and worthy compensation.
  • Pamela Skinner (Forestdale, Unit A)
    • I am asking for your vote to attend the MTA Annual Meeting. I have been a delegate to this meeting over 20 times in my 32 years. I would again like to represent you and continue to vote on important issues for our union. Thank you, Pam Skinner!
  • Aylat Lifshitz (MHS, Unit A)
    • As a self-contained Special Educator, I am acutely aware of the needs of our diverse learners, Special Educators, and ESPs. I would like to be a delegate at the annual meeting to make sure the voices of our students on IEPs and staff who support them are heard.
  • Jennifer Long (MHS, Unit A)
    • If elected this will be my 10th MTA annual meeting. I enjoy going to represent our local union in having a voice over the issues we as a state take on. To support and how your union dues are allocated. It is also a great way to connect with educators from across the state.
  • Paula Higgins (Forestdale, Unit C)
    • I would like the opportunity to continue our work of elevating ESP voices in our union by attending the MTA Annual Meeting. As 2023 MTA ESP of the Year, I have been and continue to be dedicated to advocating for all workers and the promise of public education.
  • Tom Collins (Beebe, Unit A, MEA Union Representative)
    • I’m humbly asking for your vote to send me to Annual Meeting as a delegate to represent our rank-and-file members in Malden. As an educator of multiple grades, as well as a union representative, I bring a unique perspective to the table. Thank you, in advance, for the opportunity.
  • Jessica Gold Boots (MHS, Unit A, MEA Vice President)
    • We are a stronger union when we all participate. As your vice president, a vote for me is a vote for advocating for the schools our community deserves.
