Tragedy in Charlottesville

August 14, 2017 Leave a Comment

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I want to take a moment to let you know that the Malden Education Association stands in solidarity with the victims of racism and terrorism in Charlottesville. We, as an Association of educators, stand in opposition of white nationalism, white supremacy, and terrorism and are committed to continued work to make sure that racism, bigotry, and hate have no place in our community.

As we ready ourselves for the beginning of another school year, please take a look at resources put together by the National Education Association to help educators deal with incidents of racism, hate, and bullying in schools. It is imperative that we remain committed to providing a sage, supportive, and secure learning environment for our students.

In Solidarity,
Deb Gesualdo
President, Malden Education Association
